Vardenafil ODT (the Staxyn Format): How It Differs From the Tablet and Where to Get It
Staxyn was the brand name for a 10 mg vardenafil tablet that dissolves on the tongue. The brand has been withdrawn, but a generic orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) exists, and it is a genuinely different product from the swallowed tablet, not a convenience variant of the same dose.
How the ODT is taken
- Place it on the tongue and let it dissolve; do not take it with water or other liquids.
- Remove it from the blister only when you are ready to take it, with dry hands.
- Take it about 60 minutes before sexual activity, no more than once in 24 hours.
- MedlinePlus states the ODT and the standard tablet cannot be substituted for each other; if the pharmacy hands you a different format from the one prescribed, ask before using it.
ODT vs tablet vs chewable
| Format | Approval status | How taken | Strengths |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard tablet | FDA-approved generic | Swallowed with water | 5, 10, 20 mg |
| Orally disintegrating tablet | FDA-approved generic (former Staxyn) | Dissolves on the tongue, no water | 10 mg |
| Compounded chewable | Not FDA-approved | Chewed | Set by the compounding pharmacy |

Where we found the ODT
Marley Drug listed a 4-pack of 10 mg vardenafil ODT at $99 on September 16, 2026, dispensed against a prescription from your own clinician. Sesame Care's ED menu lists Staxyn-type vardenafil among the medicines its providers can prescribe, filled at a local pharmacy. RedBox Rx, Hims and BlueChew did not list an ODT on the access date.

Who might ask for it
The label does not claim the ODT works faster or better than the tablet; its case is practical: no water needed, and discreet. Men who dislike swallowing tablets or want to carry a single dose sometimes prefer it. The same interaction and cardiovascular cautions apply as for the tablet.
